Rev. Herbert B. Schubert

With hope in the Resurrection, we commend to the Lord, Reverend Herbert Bernard Schubert, who died on Monday, March 8, 2021.

Born on June 19, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,  Father began his formation at St. Francis de Sales Minor Seminary in St. Francis, 1948-1950. His priestly formation took place at Saint Francis de Sales Major Seminary from 1950-1956. He was ordained to the priesthood by Most Reverend Albert G. Meyer, Archbishop of Milwaukee, on May 26, 1956 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee. 

Father Schubert’s first assignment was as the Assistant at St. Adalbert Parish in South Milwaukee on June 26, 1956. On July 1, 1963 he was appointed as Curate at Blessed Sacrament Parish, Milwaukee. He was appointed as the Associate Pastor at St. Lawrence Parish, Milwaukee on August 5, 1968. Father was appointed on July 8, 1975, to serve as Pastor at St. Adalbert Parish in South Milwaukee; he served this faith community until his retirement from active ministry on February 28, 2001.

Father became a Knight of Columbus on December 1, 1956 and has faithfully served Milwaukee Pere-Marquette Council 524, Bishop Henni Assembly, the WI State Council and the Milwaukee Metro Chapter as well as others in various capacities as Chaplin/Friar for over 64 years.

Father is the beloved son of the late Bernard and late Theresa (nee Rosinski). Loving brother of the late Dorothy (the late Raymond “Matty”) Chojnacki. Dear uncle of Theresa Rae, Matthew (Lynn), David (Denise), Raymond (Tammy) and Richard Chojnacki. Also survived by great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends. 

The family would like to extend special thanks to Clement Manor and VITAS Hospice for their compassionate care.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 12:00pm at the Basilica of St. Josaphat, 2333 S. 6th St., with visitation at the Church from 9am until the time of Mass. Visitation will also take place on Monday, March 22 from 10am until 4pm at the Bruskiewitz Funeral Home. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to a Catholic Church or Parochial School of your choice are appreciated.
