Barbara Thomas

Barbara Thomas (Gorecki) passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, with her loving daughter, Teri, by her side. 

Barbara was born on April 5, 1937, to Edmund and Selma (nee Gwitt) Gorecki. She lived a life centered around family, friendship, laughter, and the simple things that brought her happiness. 

Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy (Thomas) Kelnhofer; her oldest grandson, John A. Thomas; and her oldest granddaughter, Debra Groshek. 

She is survived by her loving children, Dale (Young) Thomas, Keith Thomas, Doreen (Charles) Griese, Teri Zeren, son-in-law, Mark Kelnhofer; and her grandchildren, Kimberly Thomas, Peter Thomas, Clifford (Kristin) Thomas, Timothy Griese, and William (Natashia) Griese. She is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren, as well as cousins, nephews, nieces, and many other family members and friends who loved her dearly. 

Barbara found tremendous joy in spending time with her family and friends. She loved baking and cooking, and she especially enjoyed bringing people together by hosting many fun-filled parties over the years, Her home was a place for good food, laughter, and time spent with the people she loved. 

She also appreciated her quieter days, relaxing in her recliner and watching some of her favorite shows, including game shows, Hallmark movies, and the Polka show. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and playing puzzle games on her phone. 

Barbara loved a good cup of soup whenever she could get one and always appreciated a home-cooked meal. She also enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends, where the meal was just as much about the company as it was about the food. 

Fun-loving by nature, Barbara was always looking for a good joke to share. Her smile, laughter, and sense of humor had a way of brightening the lives of those around her. 

Barbara had a giving heart and never forgot to send a greeting card for a birthday, anniversary, or holiday. Her gentle spirit and kind, generous heart will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara’s nurses and care team for the kindness, compassion, and care they provided. 

May Barbara’s memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. 

May she rest in peace. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026 from 10-11:15 AM at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community, 9520 W. Forest Home Ave., Hales Corners, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Private interment.
