Joy Yapundich

Joy Yapundich

Joy Christine (nee Wabiszewski) Yapundich, 73 was born March 1, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Sylvester and Elizabeth (nee Barrington) Wabiszewski and passed away peacefully on July 30, 2022.

Joy was the loving mother of Tanya (Paul) White and Leslie (Jack) Kania. She was the dear sister to her nine siblings and their spouses, some of whom preceded her in death and were there to greet her: the late Mike Wabiszewski, the late Jim (Darlene) Wabiszewski, Gene (Kathy) Wabiszewski, Judy Wilson, Cathy Franzen, Holly (the late Paul) Smith, the late Betty Lou (Brian) Gorski, Mary (Tom) Hensgen and Sue Zube. Joy often said her best role in life was being the proud grandmother of Zach, Josh and Alex White, and Haily and Connor McArthey, along with the grand fur-babies that joined the family. Her nine siblings provided an abundance of nieces and nephews who all had a special place in Aunt Joy’s heart. She also made wonderful friends throughout her life whom she dearly loved.

Joy worked most of her career at different forms of the phone company (Wisconsin Bell, SBC, Ameritech, AT&T) and was quite successful in her roles; managing to strike the balance between working hard and having fun with her  coworkers. She also found a second career at Buy Seasons which allowed her to become the costume master for the entire family.

Joy and her former husband Tom raised their daughters in Franklin, WI and were involved in the local Optimist Club, 4th of July Parade and PTA groups, again establishing friendships that lasted through the rest of her life.

Joy had a way about her that made everyone feel like they were a member of her family or a lifelong friend even if you just met her. She mastered the art of conversation and always showed interest in the life and experiences of whoever she was talking to.
Joy also knew how to throw a party! The house would be filled with food, drinks, music and laughter at all the holidays with Christmas and the 4th of July being her favorite days.

Joy’s final party will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, August 12th at Bruskiewitz Funeral Home from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

Joys daughters would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Accent Care Hospice who helped care for her in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Live4Today https://Live4Today.org would be appreciated by Joy’s family.
