Gervase "Gerv" Rose

Entered Eternal Life peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the age of 87. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Beverly, sons Phillip (Suzanne), Stephen (Kris), Christopher (Anna) and Gabriel (Tracy), daughters Laura (Mark) Masuda and Carol (David) Rothermel, brother John (Joan) Gannon and sister Susan Rose Ph.D, 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brothers Greg Rose and Tom Pucylowski, infant Mary, and parents Roman and Cathryne.

Gerv was born August 20, 1936 in Milwaukee, the oldest child of Roman and Cathryne Rose. He was an all-conference guard on the 1953 Don Bosco High School championship football team, graduated from Marquette University with a degree in electrical engineering, served in the U.S. Army Corps of Transportation for 6 months active and 5-½ years reserve duty.

He joined his father’s electrical contracting business in 1958. After his father’s death in 1963, became president of Roman Electric, together with his brothers Greg and Tom, and Mother, Cathryne. He later became CEO serving with his sons Phillip and Gabriel.

Gerv was a 50-year member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish, a member of Legatus and Wauwatosa Rotary, and a registered professional engineer. He held a master electrician license, served on the board of trustees of Alverno College and as a director of Franklin State Bank.

He was honored to serve as past president of St. Francis Hospital Foundation, Milwaukee Electrical Contractors Association and the Wauwatosa Rotary Club, and was a District Vice President of the National Electrical Contractors Association.

Gerv was privileged to receive the Lifetime Achievement award from the University of Wisconsin Construction Club, the NECA Leadership award, Hall of Fame and Chancellors award from Thomas More High School and was a member of the Academy of Electrical Contractors.

He and his wife Beverly enjoyed jogging, playing tennis, ballroom dancing and traveling to Mexico. They loved spending time with family and friends and were known for their New Year’s Eve parties, strong catholic faith and sense of humor.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church at 800 W. Glenview Ave. in Wauwatosa on Friday, October 20th at 12:00 PM, with visitation at the church from 9:30 to 11:30 AM.
