Raymunda Zamora

Raymunda Zamora

Raymunda Hurtado Juarez de Zamora, a.k.a. Ama, 96, was called by our Heavenly Father on February 6, 2021. Raymunda was born on February 1, 1925 in Progreso San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Valeria Juarez Hurtado and Clemente Hurtado. Ama followed her husband Alberto Zamora Sr. to Texas. From Texas to several states where they worked as migrant workers picking tomatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, and so on until they arrived in Milwaukee, WI in 1969 where they planted their roots. She worked several years at UMOS as a housekeeper then went to work for Vogel tannery where she retired.

“Ama” was steadfast in her faith. Since 1969, when the family arrived in Milwaukee, she attended Templo Maranata AIPJ until she transitioned to Templo La Hermosa in Waukesha, WI in which she was a member for over 20 years. In the 1980’s when Rev. David Villa Jr accepted his first assignment as a pastor, she was a spiritual advisor to the young couple, always holding them up in prayer and providing counsel as needed. Her years of experience as a seasoned Christian made her an invaluable asset to this couple. Ama became a pillar as an elder to this congregation. She than transitioned to Templo de Restauracion in Milwaukee where her daughter Corina & her husband William were the pastors. Then Irene, her eldest daughter, took over pastoring the Templo de Restauracion congregation for 15 years where Ama was a member until her death. Ama’s interests were, first church, making flour tortillas, and enjoyed to crochet. Ama was always very giving even if it meant going without.

Raymunda is survived by her children Alberto Zamora Jr. (Marta), Irene Torres (Eliseo), Victor Zamora Sr. (Francine), Minerva Maldonado (Anastacio), Corina Gotay (William), Nancy Douby (Mohamed), Avel Zamora, and survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; preceded in death by Alberto Zamora Sr., MaryLou Zamora, Rene Zamora, Ramiro Zamora (Nelly), and Anastacio Zamora Sr.

A special thanks to Nancy Douby, Mohamed Douby, Corina Gotay, and Jorge Gotay for their assistance in caring for Ama.

The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern, and kindness shown to us during this time of grief. May God Bless you and keep you always.

Love the Zamora Family
