Maria Kaczmarek

(Nee Rabiega, formerly Grycan)

Maria Kaczmarek, 87, of Sheboygan, WI passed away February 13, 2024 at the Sharon Richardson Community Hospice of Sheboygan Falls, WI.

Maria was born January 20, 1937 in Połajewo, Poland. At an early age Maria and her family were displaced to a work camp in Germany for the duration of World War 2. In 1949, at age 12, Maria, her parents and siblings immigrated to the US to the Hudson, WI area and then they eventually settled in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas. After high school Maria did office work at Louis Allis and at Kaczmarek Insurance and Real Estate and eventually retired from a Milwaukee area bindery. Maria enjoyed spending time with family, sitting in the sun, watching old westerns, reading and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. She loved her pets, especially her rabbit Charlie.

She was the loving mother of Stanley (Cynthia) Grycan, grandmother of Sara (Brian) Smith, David (Rachel) Grycan, Zachary Grycan, Eric Grycan and great-grandmother of Cristoffer and Matthew Smith. She is also survived by her dear brother Mitchell (the late Hedy) Rabiega and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husbands Romuald Grycan and Henry Kaczmarek, her parents Stanisław and Marianna Rabiega and by her siblings Jadzia (Bruno) Zak, Chester (Eugenia) Rabiega, Jan (Therese) Rabiega, Joseph Rabiega and Dominik (Stephanie) Rabiega.

The family would like to thank the staff at Meadow View Health Services nursing home for the loving care she received and to the staff at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the Palliative and Hospice care she received to make her final year as comfortable as possible.

Visitation will be held at the Bruskiewitz Funeral Home, 5355 W Forest Home Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53220 starting at 10 AM on Saturday, March 2, 2024, with a chapel service at 11 AM, followed by interment at St. Adalbert Cemetery, 3801 S. 6th St., Milwaukee, WI 53221.
