Florence M. Shelton

Florence M. Shelton

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 1st, 2021 at the age of 91.

Florence M. Shelton was born in 1929 on a farm in Conrath, Wisconsin. She was the 9th of 10 children of parents John and Mary Styczinski. She graduated from high school and developed a love for learning. She traveled for work to Alaska where she met her soul mate Clyde E. Shelton, a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force. They were married in Alaska on August 2, 1952. She had a son (John) a year later in California. They later moved to Utah. She was pregnant with another child (Ken) when her life was changed forever by an accident which paralyzed her husband. Years later Clyde’s sister Mary and her husband Harland died in a tragic accident. Florence’s family instantly grew from 4 to 7 when she and Clyde brought their 3 children (Danny, Valerie, and Todd) into their family to raise as their own. Her Catholic faith kept her strong and got her through the difficult times of trials. She passed along her love for family, gardening, reading, learning, traveling, positive attitude and honor of those who served in the military. She will be missed.

Beloved wife of the late Clyde. Loving mother of John (Roberta), Kenneth (the late Mary), Rose (John) Phillips, the late Louise and Clifford (Mary). Adopted mother of the late Todd Bradley (Jodi) Dybedahl, the late Howard Daniel Dybedahl and Valerie D. Dybedahl. Dear grandmother of Corey (Angie) and Amanda Shelton, Jeremy (Gretchen) Kletzien and Jennifer Lee (Anthony) Mier, Kara (Joe) Mlodik, Amy (Lee) Creighton, Elizabeth, Emily and Nicholas Shelton, Rebecca Dybedahl, Gary Mirkos and the late Shawna Dybedahl, and Aaron and Austin Mier. Great-grandmother of Caden, Carter and Sevaeh. Sister of Lewis (Pat) Styczinski. Sister-in-law of Irene Styczinski and Ruth (LaVern) Work. Further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents John and Mary (nee Derdowski), 8 siblings, and in-laws.

Visitation Friday, May 14th, 2021 at 12 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3722 S. 58th St., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1 PM. Interment Arlington Park Cemetery.
