Daniel Prijic Sr.

Daniel Prijic Sr.

Daniel Prijic Sr. was called by the Lord on August 14, 2020, at the age of 90.
He is survived by his children: Susan (Jerry), Daniel (Linda), Sandra (Robert); 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in Death by: Steve & Violet (nee Jurich) parents; Rose Brummeyer (nee Prijic) sister; Michael Prijic (brother).
Dan was born and raised by Eastern European immigrant parents on the south side of Milwaukee. He was the youngest of three children having a sister, Rose, and brother, Mike. His maternal grandmother, Julia Jurich, also lived with the family. His father owned and operated a small, neighborhood grocery store while the family lived above it.
He attended and graduated from Boys’ Trade and Technical High School in Milwaukee. Swimming, football, and baseball were sports he participated in and became a lifeguard after specific training. Football has been a favorite of his as a Packer fan since the early 1960’s.
After high school, he worked in his father’s store for a few years and joined the Army in 1951. Corporal Dan Prijic served during the Korean War for 2 years and the Army Reserves for 6 years. His wartime service took him to places such as Tokyo, Japan. He was awarded the Korean Service and the United Nations Medals. Associating with the American Legion was important to Dan.
Dan was married for 24 years to Mildred and had three children: Susan, Daniel, and Sandra. His employment included the family grocery store, Harnischfeger, and the Post Office.
Several health ailments limited his lifestyle in later years, but Dan would go for daily walks well into his mid-eighties. Determination and perseverance were qualities that he possessed to live such a long and independent life.
The outdoors brought him calm and peace so he enjoyed camping, the beauty of wildlife; especially deer and ducks, and traveling to the National Parks.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Kidney Fund or kidneyfund.org
