Barb enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, going out to dinner or just having a good time well into her 80's! She was a very social person, meeting new people at work or when she was "out and about"; one time when she was out with friends she got a ride on a Harley and another time met and had drinks with the Blue Angels pilots. Barb always had her hair done every week or two. She liked to travel, having made it to Italy, and also attending movie conventions, meeting movie stars and film executives, with her late boyfriend Wayne.

At her home, Barb enjoyed having a cocktail before dinner. She liked watching the Packers, reruns of "Friends", Animal Planet with the different animals and zoos, and staying current with the news - on TV, especially FOX News, and reading the newspaper.

Her current home on S. 45th St. was purchased with her mom in 1952, shortly after her dad passed away. They both lived there together until Barb was no longer able to care for her mother. This was a sad time in her life.

Barb was very proud of her career. She retired from the American Legion on March 31, 2021. Beginning at at the age of 17, fresh out of high school, she worked for the Legion headquarters in Milwaukee for 50 years.  When the Legion moved its headquarters to Portage in 2000, she did not follow, however she began work at the Legion's Department Service Office at the VA Regional Center in Milwaukee where she remained for 20 years, completing 70 years of employment for the organization.

During her 70 year career, she worked for 3 Department Adjutants, 4 Service Officers and 51 Department Commanders!

She was the Executive Sec retary and Administrative Assistant in charge of most Department administration. She was Secretary to the Executive Committee, Finance Committee, Camp American Legion Board exclusively and was the Convention and Meeting planner for the State and the Department's participation in National Conventions.

During her career, she also worked on the Badger Legionnaire, was the editor and cover designer of the Convention yearbook, designed a flag for Camp American Legion and had many other accomplishments too numerous to include.
